It’s no secret that many SEC coaches past and present enjoy hitting the links in their free time.
Dan Mullen is among those coaches who like to play golf. Monday at SEC Media Days in Hoover, Alabama, Mullen recounted to reporters that he recently hit a hole in one on a par-3, 173-yard hole using a 7-iron (the course was not specified in the below tweet from Orlando Sentinel columnist Mike Bianchi). He was excited to share the news with legendary Gators coach and UF athletics ambassador Steve Spurrier. Mullen was quickly humbled by the HBC, a known golf enthusiast.
“I’ve had six of ’em,” Spurrier said.
Never change, Steve.
#Gators coach Dan Mullen just told us the story of getting his first hole in one on the golf course a couple of weeks ago (par 3, 173 yards with 7-iron) and telling Steve Spurrier about it. The HBC’s response: “I’ve had six of ’em.” pic.twitter.com/1pdkNoLH1R
