Vernon Hargreaves III’s Super Bowl penalty will cost him. As if the embarrassment of drawing a flag as an inactive player wasn’t enough, the former Florida defensive back has been fined by the NFL.
Hargreaves owes the league $5,555, according to NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport, for running onto the field from the Cincinnati sideline to celebrate a Bengals interception.

Yes, the guy (Vernon Hargreaves) not playing in the game who ran onto the field in flip flops and got his team penalized is from Florida. Of course. pic.twitter.com/PQHQzTWP6w

Hargreaves, 26, has been in the pros since 2016 when he was selected by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers with the No. 11 overall pick in the NFL Draft. Hargreaves was with the Bucs until 2019 when he was let go, signing with the Houston Texans. In November, the Texans released Hargreaves, and he signed with the Bengals.
