Florida State now only D1 program with embarrassing offensive stat

Florida State surely thought it was safe from negative headlines on a bye week. That’s not the case.
FSU’s offensive struggles in 2024 are well-documented. Back in October, it was noted that Florida State was part of a small group of teams that had not scored more than 21 points in a game this season. The group has gotten smaller.
Mississippi Valley State was previously the only FCS school not to score more than 21 points this season. MVSU exited the club by defeating Florida A&M 24-21 on Saturday. With Florida State off in Week 12, FSU is now the only Division I program to not have scored more than 21 points in a game this season.
Crazy stat: With Mississippi Valley State’s 24-21 win over FAMU, Florida State is now the only 1 of 263 Division I football teams (FBS + FCS) NOT to score over 21 points in a game this season. pic.twitter.com/1pPX8PNQCm

Florida State’s season-high in scoring was 21 points in the Week 0 loss to Georgia Tech. Since then, the Noles have been stuck in the teens. The best the Seminoles have managed since the Ireland game is 16 points in losses to SMU (42-16) and Duke (23-16). Even against Cal, the lone win for Mike Norvell’s team, FSU managed only 14 points.
The Noles should be able to end their 21-point misery in Week 13. FSU is set to play FCS squad Charleston Squad at home on Saturday. The Buccaneers are 1-10 on the season, including losses by scores of 38-0 and 40-14.
Norvell fired offensive coordinator Alex Atkins and wide receivers coach Ron Dugans after Florida State’s 52-3 loss at Notre Dame in Week 11.
