Florida State got into the win column on Saturday night against Cal.

The Noles picked up their first win of the season, beating the Golden Bears 14-9 in Tallahassee.

Cal made a late comeback attempt, but Florida State was able to sack quarterback Fernando Mendoza on 4th down in the final couple minutes of the game.

This win ends a nightmare start to the season for Florida State. The Noles opened the year with 3 straight losses to Georgia Tech, Boston College and Memphis.

Lawrance Toafili had a great day out of the backfield for Florida State. He rushed for 80 yards and 1 touchdown on 17 carries. He also caught a couple passes for 9 yards.

Quarterback DJ Uiagalelei was solid, but not spectacular in the win. He completed 16-of-27 passes for 177 yards, 1 touchdown and 1 interception.

Cal actually out-gained Florida State by over 100 yards in this game. The Golden Bears were more efficient on a per-play basis as well, besting FSU 5.5 to 4.5 yards per play. The Noles still have plenty to improve upon as they prepare for Week 5 against SMU.
