Georgia landing 5-star G Anthony Edwards in this recruiting cycle was huge for coach Tom Crean’s program.

Indeed, Edwards has looked great for much of the season and will perhaps be the No. 1 overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft.

Recently, Edwards said he hopes his success at Georgia inspires other kids from the state to stay at home and play for the Bulldogs (via 247Sports):

“I pray to God that it will inspire a hometown kid to stay at home and live out their dream at home,” Edwards said, “and not go to another school, where you got to worry about other players and coaches lying to you, not telling you the truth.

“Just stay at home and grind.”

Edwards is averaging 18.7 points, 4.9 rebounds and 3.1 assists per game so far in his freshman season.

If he goes No. 1 (or even top-5) in the upcoming draft, it’ll be a huge boost for Georgia’s recruiting.
