David Pollack layoff: Fans, media react to ESPN’s decision on College GameDay host
By Paul Harvey
Published:
David Pollack is a longtime piece of ESPN’s College GameDay crew. Unfortunately, the former Georgia star is included in the latest round of layoffs from the network according to reports from Friday.
The news that Pollack is reportedly being let go has generated quite a reaction from fans, to say the least. Most of the reactions illustrate that Pollack was among the favorite members of the GameDay crew, and fans will miss his presence on Saturday mornings in the fall.
However, a number of the reactions were also critical of ESPN’s decision. A number of fans even questioned why Pollack is out with fellow College GameDay host Desmond Howard (as of the time of this writing) still maintaining his position on the program.
Take a look:

I cannot believe ESPN laid off David Pollack. He’ll certainly be fine and have plenty of opportunities ahead of him, but this is the network the SEC has bet its future on. I hope the league knows what it’s doing.

ESPN really let go of David Pollack instead of Desmond Howard or Lee Corso? https://t.co/r0ubT3yOwu

ESPN is reportedly letting go of David Pollack, who’s been apart of College Gameday since 2011.
A mind-boggling move to say the least. pic.twitter.com/DNAP6bDFi0

I actually like Pat McAfee, but he’s not a good fit for College Gameday. David Pollack was the only remaining host that could talk ball with Herbstreit, and his segments were always great. Desmond Howard doesn’t have the slightest clue, and Lee Corso, bless him, has lost it.

The fact that Desmond Howard still has a job after today tells you everything you need to know about ESPNs commitment to not being a serious sports network.

Yet espn is keeping Desmond Howard…..

…but Desmond Howard still has a job?

Keep Desmond Howard but cut David Pollack? pic.twitter.com/xQf48OUgFX

ESPN making some outrageous decisions today. For one, David Pollack being fired over Desmond Howard and Lee Corso is insane.

I don’t know how ESPN ditches David Pollack, one of the few truly objective analysts, and keeps Desmond Howard, a true homer.
Sad.

ESPN lays off David Pollack but keeps this clown? Absolutely ridiculous. pic.twitter.com/riwyiwKCqR

With Pollack now gone, it will be interesting to see what the final College GameDay crew looks like when the 2023 season begins.
