Shamari Earls is sticking with his plans to play in the SEC, but has changed his mind on which program to join.
The blue-chip defensive back took to social media on Sunday to announce that he has flipped his commitment from South Carolina to Georgia.
“I would like to thank Coach (Torrian) Gray, Coach (Shane) Beamer and the entire South Carolina staff and fan base for allowing me the opportunity to be a part of their family, but at this time I need to make the best decision for me,” Earls wrote in a note posted on his X account. “With that being said l’d like to announce that I’ll be de-committing from South Carolina and committing to the UNIV OF GEORGIA!!! I’m a #Dawg”
Out of Chester (Virginia) Thomas Dale, Earls is listed as measuring 6-2, 180 pounds. On the 247Sports Composite, Earls is rated 4-stars, the No. 4 recruit in the state of Virginia, No. 11 cornerback and No. 105 prospect overall in the 2025 recruiting class.

Earls committed to South Carolina on April 20, but did not shut his recruitment down, notably taking visits to Michigan and Georgia.
On UGA campus, Earls posed for photos in the alternate uniform combo of white helmet, black jersey and black pants. The photos were used to help announce his verbal commitment to Kirby Smart’s program.
