Georgia landed its first piece of the 2025 recruiting class Tuesday evening, and it’s a player with a name very familiar to the Bulldogs.
Jacob Wilkins has elite basketball bloodlines and is one of the top overall players in the 2025 recruiting class. The son of former Georgia and Atlanta Hawks superstar Dominique Wilkins, Jacob is looking to follow in his father’s footsteps.
Tuesday evening, the younger Wilkins committed to the Bulldogs per Travis Branham with 247 Sports. Wilkins already held offers from some of the top programs in the country, including Alabama, Indiana, Cincinnati and Virginia. He was coming off an official visit to Athens and also took an official visit to UVA earlier in the month.

“I just felt like I am at home and the people there,” said Wilkins about the UGA program. “I trust everyone there to put me in the right position and I know I have the ability to make my own name there even though I am coming there with my last name being a household name there.”
Jacob’s father — Dominique — starred for the Bulldogs from 1979-82 and was the No. 3 overall pick in the 1982 NBA Draft. Dominique would go on to post a Hall of Fame career, including 12 seasons spent with the Atlanta Hawks and was a 7-time All-NBA selection.
As for Jacob, he’s a budding star of his own. He’s listed as a 6-foot-7 and 167-pound small forward out of Grayson High School in Loganville, Georgia. The 247 Sports Composite rates Wilkins as a 4-star recruit, the No. 9 SF in the nation and the 40th overall prospect for the class of 2025.
Wilkins is the first player to commit to Georgia for the 2025 recruiting cycle.
