Georgia teammates back home in Athens made sure to tune in on Thursday to watch Nolan Smith take the field for drills at the NFL Scouting Combine.

And they were treated to an incredible show.

Smith posted a blistering 4.39 40-yard dash, the 2nd-fastest by a defensive lineman at the Combine in two decades. The former Bulldog edge rusher also led all defensive linemen (who participated) with a 41.5-inch vertical jump, posted a 10-foot, 8-inch broad jump, and ran a 1.52-second 10-yard split.

A 4.44 time on his initial run of the 40 caught everyone’s attention, and his second time of 4.39 caused an uproar. Particularly from his teammates watching on TV.

Marvin Jones Jr. posted an incredible celebration on his Instagram.

A 6-foot-2 edge rusher from Savannah, Georgia, Smith is looking to secure his status as a 1st-round pick in April’s NFL Draft. In 4 seasons with the Bulldogs, Smith posted 20 tackles for loss and 12.5 sacks.

Should he hear his name called in the 1st Round, it would give Georgia 3 straight drafts with a defender taken in the opening round.
