Kirby Smart and his Georgia Bulldogs are ready to get the 2024 season underway as they take on the Clemson Tigers in one of the biggest games of Week 1.

Running back Trevor Etienne, who transferred in from Florida, is expected to be a major contributor on the Bulldogs’ offense. However, his status for the season opener is cloudy after an off-field situation in the offseason.

On March 24, Etienne was charged with a DUI, but the case was ultimately pled down and resolved on July 10. When asked about Etienne’s outlook for Saturday by the media, Smart didn’t share much on Etienne’s status.

“I don’t really talk about any of the other stuff in regards to any of our players with suspensions,” Smart said.

He was later asked not just about Etienne’s status, but also Smael Mondon and Sacovie White, but again declined to elaborate on their status.

Etienne had a very good season last year for the Gators, as he rushed for 753 yards and 8 touchdowns.

There is a very good chance that the status of those players won’t be known until the day of the game, if not right before kickoff. Kickoff is scheduled for 12:00 pm ET and will be played at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta.
