LOOK: Georgia athletics board shares vision for newly approved $80 million football facility

Georgia’s football facilities are getting a huge upgrade.
On Friday, the board of directors of the UGA Athletic Association approved athletic director Greg McGarity’s proposal to add an $80 million football operations building to the program’s complex, according to Chip Towers of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
The 165,000-square-foot facility will be added to the Butts-Mehre Building.
Construction will begin in January, with the first phase being complete by April 2021. The second phase will be completed by January 2022. Due to the first phase of construction, the Bulldogs will only have one outdoor practice field next year.
The new facility will be three stories tall and include new coaches’ offices, an expansive locker room, a players lounge, a new sports-medicine facility, a new weight room and more.
