Georgia has asserted themself as the team to beat in college football this season, adding to its resume on Saturday with a dominant win over Florida.
The Bulldogs have only been tested a few times this season, leaving many to speculate just how good they are, but they have passed both tests against Kentucky and Florida. Now, Georgia has plenty of momentum heading into the November slate.
On Sunday on the Matt Barrie Show, Paul Finebaum addressed the changing narrative about Georgia at this point in the season.
“Here’s what impresses me about Georgia, they’ve had 2 games that I would call big according to the hype going in,” Finebaum said. “The Kentucky game, which wasn’t very big, but it seemed like it, and they delivered and they did it again. We were talking to Kirby Smart before the game in Jacksonville, and he said the most important thing in this game is momentum, and you saw that momentum build quickly and it was over.”
While the Bulldogs have been perfect so far, they have their 3 biggest tests coming up against Missouri, Ole Miss and Tennessee. Georgia will need to be perfect in those games to secure a spot in the CFP.
“Not to add one more to the pie, but if they survive that, then they go to Knoxville,” Finebaum said. “I don’t know what to make out of that game yet, because Tennessee has to deal with Missouri and a few other foes, but still, there’s something eerie about late November in Knoxville assuming you’re trying to get yourself to Atlanta.”
