Georgia LB Lorenzo Carter could have left for the NFL after last season, but decided to stick around for his senior year with the Bulldogs.
Granted, he probably wouldn’t have been a first- or second-round pick, but with all the injuries suffered in football, a pro career is never a guarantee.
Still, Carter is back in Athens and couldn’t be happier, telling Macon.com that he’s happy he’s still with the Bulldogs:
“I don’t really know. I don’t really care,” Carter said. “I’m back for a reason. I’m proud and happy I came back. I’m really happy I came back.”
Now, Carter is trying to make the most of the few games he has left. He said he’s excited to try to keep Georgia’s undefeated start going:
“We let them know we only have so many games left so we take advantage of every opportunity we have,” Carter said. “We’re embracing the challenge and embracing the last opportunities to come out here and show everybody what we have.”
Carter has emerged as a leader of the defense and has definitely worked his way up some NFL Draft boards. It’ll be interesting to see where he goes next year if he continues to play like he has so far in 2017.
