Alex Raynor only needed 2 seasons to make some cool history at Kentucky.

After 3 seasons at Georgia Southern, the senior kicker decided he wanted to finish his college career under the bright lights of the SEC. And on Saturday afternoon against Ohio in Lexington, Raynor booted his way right into the Kentucky football record book. Raynor drilled a 34-yard field goal with 5:18 left in the 3rd quarter for his 12th consecutive made field goal, setting a Wildcats record and, oh by the way, giving Kentucky a 20-0 lead.

It was the 2nd made field goal of the day for Raynor, who also made a 30-yard kick in the 1st quarter to open the scoring, as the 1-2 Wildcats looked to get back to .500 heading into next week’s game at 5th-ranked Ole Miss.

Raynor’s streak of 12 straight made field goals stretches back to last season, when he went 10 for 11 on field goal attempts in his 1st season in Lexington. Raynor was 7 for 7 this season going into Saturday’s game, so that record-setting kick made him a perfect 9 for 9.

Raynor also had 3 extra points on Saturday, as the Wildcats held a big lead in the 4th quarter against the Bobcats.

Raynor has shown he can make them from long range, too, as he’s 2 for 2 this season on field goals of 50-plus yards.
