There will be no holdout for Benny Snell.

After being selected in the fourth round of the 2019 NFL Draft by Pittsburgh, Kentucky’s all-time leading rusher has just signed his first NFL contract. The Steelers locked Snell up with a four-year deal after taking him with the 122nd overall pick in the latest NFL draft.

Snell finished his collegiate career after rushing for 3,873 yards and an incredible 48 touchdowns in only three seasons on the field in Lexington. Both numbers represent all-time records at Kentucky. The only player in SEC history with more rushing touchdowns in only three seasons of play is Georgia’s Herschel Walker.

“I’m really excited about Benny,” Steelers running backs coach Eddie Faulkner recently said regarding Snell. “Very evident when you sit down with this young man how much passion he has for the game, how much he loves it, how he loves being around it. We were very interested in finding someone who had a passion and just loves football, and that’s Benny Snell. As soon as you turn on his tape, and watch how he plays the game, he mirrors that same amount of passion. He plays physical, plays hard, and quite honestly represents the Steelers brand, as you watch him play as a football player.”

While Snell may not be the fastest rookie running back entering the NFL this offseason, if he continues to find the end zone at the rate he did in college, he’s going to have a long and storied career at the game’s highest level.
