ESPN’s Football Power Index (FPI) predicts the outcome of each college football game every week.
After a wild Week 6 that featured several notable upsets, the model has released its predictions for the Week 7 games.
Included in the Week 7 predictions is the Vanderbilt-Kentucky game. Both of these teams have notable wins this season, with Kentucky taking down Ole Miss in Oxford in Week 5 and Vanderbilt stunning Alabama in Nashville in Week 6.
Vanderbilt’s Week 6 win over Alabama is one of the biggest upsets in recent college football history. The team will have to avoid a letdown performance in Week 7.

Now, the SEC underdogs are set to play each other in Week 7. FPI sees Kentucky as the favorite, giving the Wildcats a 68.4% chance to win the matchup in Lexington. This means the Commodores are getting just a 31.6% chance to pull off another SEC upset.
Coming into the game, both teams are 3-2 overall. The Wildcats are 1-2 in SEC play while the Commodores are 1-1. This game will be a chance for one of these teams to prove they can cause trouble in the SEC this season.
The all-time series between these 2 SEC rivals is close, with the Wildcats having 49 series wins and the Commodores having 43. The Wildcats have had the Commodores’ number in recent years, however, having won 8 of the last 10 meetings. Last season, the Wildcats picked up a 45-28 win.
Both of these teams still have several tough games on their schedules. The Commodores still have to play Texas, Auburn, South Carolina, LSU, and Tennessee. Meanwhile, the Wildcats will still play Florida, Auburn, Tennessee, Texas, and Louisville.
These old rivals will kick off from Lexington on Saturday at 7:45 p.m. ET.
