Kentucky defender Jordan Jones to miss Saturday’s game at South Carolina

Jordan Jones won’t travel with Kentucky this weekend as it takes on South Carolina.
Coach Mark Stoops announced the news during an interview with reporters Thursday. Jones, the Wildcats’ top linebacker, suffered a shoulder injury in last week’s victory over Eastern Kentucky. He has not practiced all week and Stoops deemed his status “week to week,” according to the Courier-Journal. His unavailability could linger into next week, as Stoops said it was a “stretch” to think Jones will be able to play against Florida.
A junior, Jones was the SEC’s leading returnee in both total tackles (109) and tackles for loss (15.5). Through two games this season, he has collected 13 tackles, third-most on the team.
