Mark Stoops says Kentucky offensive tackle hasn’t ‘been getting the recognition he deserves’

Mark Stoops’ 2020 Kentucky team is built to win the battles in the trenches. As many SEC teams are about to find out, the Wildcats have one of the league’s top offensive lines.
UK quarterback Terry Wilson will be well protected with Landon Young and Darian Kinnard manning the tackle spots. A Kentucky fan recently asked Stoops if Kinnard or Young was the best tackle in the country. Unsurprisingly, Stoops didn’t take a side.
“I don’t think Landon has been getting the recognition that he deserves,” Stoops said after sharing his appreciation for the question. “Certainly, Darian deserves the accolades and the attention he’s been getting because he is very, very steady and such a talented and good football player. And Landon is as well.”
While Young may be flying under the national radar, he is getting some recognition around the SEC. Cole Cubelic named both Wildcats starters to his top 5 tackles in the SEC. Athlon Sports recognized both on its preseason All-SEC team with Kinnard receiving first-team honors and Young landing on the second team.
Stoops went on to praise the two linemen as teammates, calling them both unselfish and hard workers in his full answer to the question, which can be heard below:
