The Kentucky Wildcats earned a tough, hard-fought victory over Vanderbilt on Saturday night, ensuring bowl eligibility and improving their record to 6-1.
It was also a key win for coach Mark Stoops, who will get at least a $50,000 bonus for going to a bowl game. However, moving forward, Stoops has a lot more incentive to win.
That’s because, per USA TODAY’s Steve Berkowitz, Stoops gets a one-year contract extension with his next win and will also make $250,000 extra for every win from here on out:
Kentucky coach Mark Stoops is set up for at least a $50,000 bonus for UK playing in a bowl game, but if the Wildcats win one more game, he'll get a 1-year contract extension and start collecting $250,000 per victory for the rest of this season: https://t.co/T8sSb6AWDE

Obviously, Stoops is also motivated by the chance to have one of the Wildcats’ best seasons in program history, but the money is a nice bonus.
The Wildcats travel to take on an explosive Mizzou squad next weekend in what should be another tough game.
