Former Kentucky QB Jared Lorenzen has been battling a serious medical issue for a while now, and sadly, tragedy has struck the Wildcats family.

Per Kentucky Sports Radio’s Matt Jones, Lorenzen has passed away from the illness, which had led to him being hospitalized.

Lorenzen was only 38 years old at the time of his death on Wednesday.

Lorenzen played for Kentucky from 2000 to 2003, earning the nickname “Hefty Lefty” for his size, which was unusual for the quarterback position. Still, he was more than that, and was a great, dynamic player for the Wildcats.

Lorenzen was a popular person in Lexington and is still one of most fans’ favorite players. Rest in peace, Jared.
