Kentucky running back Benny Snell, Jr. was ejected from Friday’s Music Bowl against Northwestern.
It was ridiculous, honestly.
Snell essentially refused an official’s help getting up, and when he lightly pushed the ref’s hands away, that apparently merited an ejection.
This was not a good way for the sophomore back’s season to end.
And Twitter — rightfully — was not happy about it:
So why is the ref trying to touch Snell ( help him up) ? Does he have to accept it ? 1 of the worst calls of the year by a Ref I mean terrible

Lesson learned for Benny Snell. If a ref offers you his hand, take it. If he offers you his hat? Take that too. If he offers you his kidney? Hope you have the same blood type kid

Ref’s ego got in the way. Snell told the ref he didn’t want his help getting up. Did not “make contact with him.” Ref put his hands on him.

OK, football gods. Whatever we did to upset you, we’re really, really sorry. Truce?

Kentucky RB Benny Snell just got kicked out of a bowl game for pushing the refs hands away. This is horrible. pic.twitter.com/aqrLg9lK0J

I’m rooting like crazy for #Northwestern, of course. But to eject the #Kentucky RB – who happens to be their best player – for THAT is a travesty. #MusicCityBowl
