Brian Kelly takes over an LSU program that has disappointed the past 2 years after winning the 2019 national championship.
One of the bright spots from the past 2 years of Tiger football has been WR Kayshon Boutte, who burst onto the scene before suffering a season-ending injury after 6 games in 2021.
On Wednesday, as the Tigers get set for spring practices, Kelly says he’s working to build a relationship with the star receiver:
"Look, he's a great player, he a good kid but this has been a rough spot for him. What happens is that you tend to get distracted when you are not involved in everything but he's learning he has to be involved in everything whether he's injured or not."

Kelly added that he’s had a nice conversation with Boutte and that the talented pass catcher had a successful second surgery:
More on Boutte: "The good part is that his surgery was successful, he's making good progress and he's in walking boot right now. That's really the most important thing."
"Everything else we will work out between the two of us. I'm not that hard-headed. He's a good player."

Through 6 games last year, Boutte was setting the college football world on fire. He had 38 catches for 509 yards and a whopping 9 touchdowns. If he’s healthy in 2022, that’s certainly a level of production Kelly and the Tigers would love to have back on the field.
