Brian Kelly said his senior receiver, Kyren Lacy, has become a “bounce-back guy.”
Kelly noted on Wednesday’s SEC teleconference that Lacy’s senior campaign is a far cry from his junior season.
Last season, Lacy had just 24 catches, 268 receiving yards and no touchdowns. This season, Lacy has reeled in 18 receptions for 347 yards and 4 scores.
“He may have the occasional drop or make a mistake,” Kelly said. “But I think what I’m most proud of with him is that might have affected his entire game last year, but now he bounces back and puts that behind him and is even more determined to impact the game.”
Lacy’s best game for LSU was in the teams’ 48-18 win over Auburn on Oct. 14. The senior had 4 receptions for 111 yards and a TD.
Kelly noted that it’s been all about maturity and growth for Lacy.
“It’s fun for me as a coach to see that kind of maturity and growth from a young man,” Kelly said.
No. 19 LSU (6-3) is looking to brush off a 42-28 loss to No. 8 Alabama last week. With a win over Florida this Saturday, the Tigers could go 4-1 in a month.
LSU and Florida are set to square off at 7:30 p.m. Saturday on the SEC Network.
