Brian Kelly spoke with the media on Monday and provided an injury update on 2 key starters.
Wide receiver Chris Hilton and offensive lineman Miles Frazier are both projected to be starters on the Tigers’ offense, and both have been dealing with injuries recently. Kelly spoke about their potential availability for LSU’s season-opener, which is now less than a week away.
“Miles should practice here tomorrow for us, so that’s why we’ve got him listed as probable,” Kelly said. “Chris will move around today with our trainers and we’ll get a better sense of his situation. That’s why we’ve got him as questionable. Because we haven’t seen him move around.”
Kelly pointed to Tyree Adams and Paul Mubenga as players who could fill in for Frazier if needed. Frazier is listed as “probable,” however, and Kelly outlined the reasoning behind that designation.
As for Hilton, Kelly identified redshirt freshman Kyle Parker as an option if the starter Hilton isn’t ready to go.
“Kyle Parker will be the next guy up in that situation,” Kelly said. “He’s had a great camp and we feel really good about what he could do for us.”
Hilton is expected to play a much larger role in 2024 than he did in 2023. Last season, Hilton finished with 13 catches for 225 yards and two touchdowns after being buried behind Malik Nabers, Brian Thomas Jr., and Kyren Lacy on the depth chart.
The Tigers will kick off the 2024 season against the USC Trojans on Sunday, September 1.
