Chris Hilton Jr. has been out longer than expected for LSU. On Wednesday’s SEC teleconference, Brian Kelly discussed the ankle injury, saying Hilton has done everything possible to return to action.

“It has been a complicated injury,” Kelly said Wednesday morning. “Let’s get the record straight, just so everybody knows. Chris has done everything to get back as quickly as possible. This has been an injury that we’ve done scans. We’ve done MRIs, and the healing has just been slow. He’s put in the time. And he has the want-to to want to be out there.”

“If he’s able to be out there, he would be out there,” the LSU coach added. “This has just been one of those unusual injuries that has taken so much longer to heal than normal. But we’re going to get him back out there, and when he does, I’m certain that he’s going to be a welcome addition to our offense.”

The Tigers had long hoped to have Milton back for Saturday’s showdown with No. 9 Ole Miss. In Hilton’s absence, No. 13 LSU has managed to have a highly productive passing offense, with Garrett Nussmeier averaging 330 yards per game.

Aaron Anderson leads LSU receivers in catches (27) and receiving yards (371). Kyren Lacy is the team’s receiving touchdown leader with 5 scores on 25 catches for 352 yards. Mason Taylor (28 catches, 280 yards) and CJ Daniels (20 catches, 239 yards) have also been key contributors to the passing attack.
