One of the funnier moments of Week 8 across the SEC came when LSU QB Joe Burrow was sacked against Mississippi State and he nearly had his pants yanked down. The partial mooning became the subject of a couple of jokes from CBS broadcasters Brad Nessler and Gary Danielson.
“If you run forward, you’ll be really embarrassed,” Danielson joked. “He was not wearing compression pants. I can tell you that.”
For his part, Burrow initially said no comment about the play, then added, “I hear there’s a full moon out tonight in Starkville.”
Coach Ed Orgeron was asked about it on Monday at his regular press conference.
“I think it’s a good thing in college sports when guys have fun,” he said. “They make fun of me. I’m glad my pants didn’t fall down. College sports, SEC, there’s no private moments any more. That stuff happens. Obviously it was an accident. I’m sure Joe would like to forget it and so would we.”
Burrow set the school’s single-season record for touchdown passes in the third quarter. He was 25-for-32 passing for 327 yards and four touchdowns in the 36-13 victory.
The Tigers return to action this week against Auburn.
