Fans roast ESPN’s ‘greatest college player bracket’ over Pete Maravich being 13 seed

With March Madness being canceled due to the outbreak of the coronavirus, media outlets are getting creative.
On Thursday, ESPN released a Greatest College Basketball Player of all time bracket, and the top 4 seeds weren’t too much of a surprise with Lew Alcindor, Christian Laettner, Breanna Stewart and Bill Walton.
However, fans were upset with 1 specific player who was a No. 13 seed — Pete Maravich. Pistol Pete may be the SEC’s best basketball player ever, as he’s up there with Shaquille O’Neal, Dominique Wilkins and Anthony Davis, among others.
Below is the full bracket:

Maravich averaged over 44 points, 6.5 rebounds and over 5 assists per game at LSU from 1967-70. He went on to become a 5-time NBA All-Star and the 1977 NBA scoring champion.
Fans weren’t too happy with Maravich being a 13 seed either.
Pete Maravich, the greatest college basketball player of all time, is a 13-seed??? What kind or whack logic is this bullshit, SportsCenter??? https://t.co/FVfqpP4njt

Any poll that puts Pistol Pete Maravich as a 13 seed doesnt hold an ounce of credibility. He averaged 44 a game for his career WITHOUT a three point line. Who came up with these seeds, 15 year olds? I'm out.

Pete Maravich put up 44 a game without the 3PT line and is a 13 seed? Shane Battier is higher than him? I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again, I hate it here https://t.co/kQ9bH8shFI

Pete Maravich averaged 44.2 points per game in his career and scored 3,667 points, a record that will never be broken. How is he a 13 seed? https://t.co/4eV1nc7ES9
