Greg Brooks Jr. underwent emergency surgery last Friday to remove a large brain tumor, according to a recently released statement from the LSU senior safety’s family.

“We are grateful for the work and care of the medical staff helping Greg through these challenges and for the concern and love poured out by so many in the Louisiana, Arkansas, and national sports communities. This means the world to us at this difficult time.”
The statement adds that they are awaiting clarity on the extent of Brooks Jr.’s battle and recovery in the wake of the tumor.
“His incredible strength of character gives us confidence, but we also know that he needs our support now more than ever. Please keep Greg and our family in your prayers.”

The 5-foot-10, 187-pound Louisiana native was selected as a team captain prior to the 2023 campaign and has tallied 2 pass deflection this season.
