LSU’s attempt to repeat in the Southeastern Conference just got a lot more difficult if this report is accurate.

Ja’Marr Chase, arguably the best receiver in the nation last season, is planning on opting out for the coming season according to Dennis Dodd of CBS Sports.

Not only will Chase sit this season out but he’s prepared to move on from LSU and will concentrate his efforts on preparing for the next level, according to Dodd. Chase is considered the No. 1 receiver prospect in the 2021 NFL Draft.

The 2019 Biletnikoff Award winner and First-Team All-SEC selection had 84 catches for 1,780 yards and caught 20 touchdowns last season for the Tigers. During the national championship game, Chase caught nine passes for 221 yards and two touchdowns.

Chase is set to become the third LSU player to opt-out for the coming season joining defensive back Kary Vincent and defensive lineman Neil Farrell.

SDS will have more on this developing story as it unfolds
