Jayden Daniels performance against Florida on Saturday featured 606 yards of total offense, some broken records and a Heisman pose.

The LSU quarterback had a historic performance in the win against the Gators, becoming the only other quarterback in SEC history to record 200 passing yards and 200 rushing yards in a single game. He became the first quarterback in FBS history with 350 passing yards and 250 rushing yards.

But heading into the week, it was unclear whether Daniels would even play. He took a hard hit against Alabama last week and was in concussion protocol at the beginning of the week. After the game, he discussed his week of practice with SEC Network’s Alyssa Lang.

“Still doing the same thing, same routine,” Daniels said. “A little limited, but even though I wasn’t out there physically most of the time, just mentally preparing myself. Preparing like I was going to play this week.”

Daniels was humble in his answer about breaking the FBS record, giving credit to his teammates and remembering his roots as a young football player.

“It means a lot, I thank God for everything, the talent that he gave me,” Daniels said. “I thank my O-line. I can’t do this without them at all. It’s just who I was as a young kid, backyard, playing in the streets, so I came out on the football field just having fun.”

It’s clear Daniels is emerging as a favorite for the Heisman Trophy, and after a touchdown in the 3rd quarter he struck the signature Heisman pose as a celebration. He said after the game that he was just giving his teammates what they wanted.

“They were the ones who wanted me to hit it, we’ll see,” Daniels said. “Just going to keep going on, next week we’ve got Georgia State. Prepare for a new week.”
