LSU great Marcus Spears, The Big Swagu, has never shied away from his speaking his mind. It’s part of what makes him a great analyst on the SEC Network.
Tigers fans, however, were disappointed to see one of their own seemingly side against them Saturday night. When it came to the controversial targeting call on LSU LB Devin White, Spears tweeted that he believed it was the correct call as defined by the rule.
Right call just sucks man https://t.co/IOrwgPgy7M

Y’all be mad at me because ya feelings hurt about the call but this gonna get called every time! Now debate with ya damn daddy https://t.co/h4bOMpcMlo

Most LSU fans appeared to prefer debating with Spears instead of their “damn daddy.” To his credit, Spears was ready for the replies and stuck to his guns.
Hey dammit don’t be mad at me! I don’t like the call either but contact to the head or neck area is #Targeting now be mad at the damn refs not me

Spears made it clear he’s against White being ejected and suspended for the first half of LSU’s next, Alabama:
100% agree https://t.co/KlsIqb0HN0

Respect your view we disagree on the rule I can agree I didn’t like the call. https://t.co/dU88udRp1T

Mike G! Hate the the call and you know it’s a bad rule on punishment but as it was explained to me they are supposed to call it. The rule about sitting out next game is one of the worst in the game and it needs to change https://t.co/qJjjle9u6k

I’m not telling you he should miss a half I’ve never agreed with that part. https://t.co/mEPBeZPaEg

Last thought on this!! In football in 2018 you subject yourself as a player at the refs discretion If you tackle a QB up High! I don’t like missing a half of a game because of the targeting that needs to be changed. @DevinWhite__40 was dealt a bad one but it’s the new football
