LSU basketball season is almost here, and Tigers fans will soon be heading to Pete Maravich Assembly Center to take in the action. And after the 2020-21 season was heavily impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2021-22 campaign will mark more of a return to normalcy.

On Thursday, LSU announced that while it will be encouraged for fans to wear masks at Tigers basketball games this winter, it will not be required. The university issued a statement, noting that this decision was made after consulting with officials on campus:

The LSU women’s basketball team has a pair of home exhibition games before the season begins, as it will take on Langston on Saturday and Loyola New Orleans on Nov. 4. Those will be the first hoops contests to take place on campus this season.

Then, the Tigers’ men’s and women’s basketball teams will each play its season openers at home on Nov. 9. The women are hosting Nicholls, while the men will be facing UL Monroe.
