LSU is choosing to promote from within to fill an on-field coaching role, according to a report.
That’s per The Athletic’s Bruce Feldman, who notes that John Jancek will be LSU’s new outside linebackers coach after serving as an analyst with the Tigers last season. Feldman also reports that Jancek will be LSU’s special teams coordinator.
SOURCE: John Jancek is expected to become LSU's special teams coordinator and OLBs coach. The 54-year-old Jancek, who had been working as an analyst at LSU, previously has also coached at UGA, Tennessee, Cincinnati, among other places.

He has plenty of high-level coaching experience at programs such as Tennessee and Cincinnati.
Prior to arriving at LSU, Jancek was a defensive quality control coach at Georgia from 2020-21. He was previously a defensive coordinator at Colorado State, Tennessee and Cincinnati.
Jancek replaces Brian Polian as the program’s special teams coordinator. Polian moved into an off-the-field role with LSU earlier this offseason.
LSU has been working to finalize its coaching staff ahead of a big season. The Tigers had a successful Year 1 under Brian Kelly in 2022, winning the SEC West. However, LSU is hoping to take another step forward toward the College Football Playoff in 2023.
