Mike Denbrock led one of the best offenses in the country and is now moving on from LSU, according to a report from Pete Sampson.

Sampson covers Notre Dame football for The Athletic. A source told him that Denbrock will be leaving Baton Rouge to fill the offensive coordinator opening with the Fighting Irish.

LSU led the SEC this season in passing yards (334.3) and rushing yards per game (213.5). Denbrock used Jayden Daniels as one of the main cogs in the offense. This season’s Heisman Trophy winner finished with 3,812 yards passing, 1,134 yards rushing, and 50 touchdowns.

Denbrock will be returning to Notre Dame. He originally joined Brian Kelly’s staff there in 2010 as tight ends coach. Denbrock eventually worked his way up to passing game coordinator in 2012, before becoming the offensive coordinator for the Fighting Irish in 2014.

Before heading to LSU to reunite with Kelly, Denbrock spent 2017-2021 at Cincinatti. Denbrock was the offensive coordinator, quarterbacks coach, and TE coach for the Bearcats during that time.

LSU fans might miss Denbrock for the way he revitalized the offense in Baton Rouge.
