The LSU defense is expected to do big things this season, DC Dave Aranda’s third at the helm of the unit.

However, to accomplish those big things, players are going to need to stay healthy, and that’s been a problem so far this fall.

On Thursday, it was reported that freshman MLB Micah Baskerville had surgery on a foot injury and is expected to miss some time this month (via 247Sports):

LSU freshman middle linebacker Micah Baskerville has suffered a foot injury that required minor surgery and a temporary walking boot, sources tell the Geaux247 staff. The foot injury is one that brings with it a timetable that expects to see him return to the practice field before the season opener against Miami, a source added.

As a freshman, this is bad news for Baskerville, who needs every rep he can get to get himself up to speed in Aranda’s defense.

According to the 247Sports composite, Baskerville was a 4-star recruit coming out of high school. He was the No. 14 inside linebacker and the No. 8 overall recruit from the state of Louisiana.
