As of now, it appears as if LSU has decided to roll with Purdue transfer Danny Etling as its starting quarterback.

Etling has led LSU to back-to-back wins. While he hasn’t put up gaudy numbers, Eting has been a stabilizing force for the Tigers at the position.

When looking statistically at LSU’s quarterbacks over the past three years (Etling, Brandon Harris, Anthony Jennings), something instantly jumps out:

Harris and Jennings focused heavily on throwing to LSU receivers — nearly 70-percent of the time. As for Etling, he’s spread the ball out much more to both the running backs and the tight ends.

One could point to this statistic as a direct reason for Etling’s early success in 2016. The ability to distribute to multiple positions on the field (in theory) would make LSU’s offense more difficult to defend against.
