The LSU-Florida rivalry has long existed as one of those matchups where it doesn’t really matter how much better one side is than the other. When LSU vs. Florida happens, throw out your ideas about these teams based on current records. When the players take the field, anything can happen and something usually does happen. Simply put, the LSU-Florida rivalry might be one of the most exciting regular matchups in the SEC, and the crazy games and events that have occurred in this series are too many to count.
The “Swamp Bowl” as some call it has been an annual event since 1971 when the teams began playing each other every year. When the SEC went to east and west divisions in 1992, Florida and LSU were selected as permanent cross-divisional opponents.
The all-time series is incredibly even, with the series record steadily hovering around the .500 mark. The longest win streak in the series came when Florida won 9-consecutive games between 1988 and 1996. LSU has been fairly dominant over the last decade, going 9-3 in the series between 2010 and 2021.
Despite Florida and LSU having a number of appearances in the SEC Championship Game, the two teams have never met in the game.
