Tyler Van Dyke is officially on to his next destination after playing out the beginning of his college career at Miami and then later transferring to Wisconsin. Injuries plagued him at both places, and now he will hope for a healthy and fresh start with the SMU Mustangs.

With the move, he will reunite with Rhett Lashlee, who was with him at Miami. He will be back with D’Eriq King as well, who he played with in Coral Gables. King is SMU’s quarterbacks coach.

Missing multiple games due to injury, Van Dyke finished out the 2024 season with a 63.2% completion percentage, passing for 422 yards with 1 touchdown and 1 interception. He had a decent amount of success in his time with Lashlee, recording the best season of his career in 2021 though he wasn’t able to consistently stack performances due to the injuries that kept him sidelined sporadically.

Under Lashlee, Van Dyke completed roughly 62% of his passes for 2,931 yards with 25 touchdowns and 6 interceptions. Nearing the end of his college football career with eventual NFL Draft aspirations, Van Dyke will aim to stay healthy and reach the same heights he did under Lashlee the first time in a new spot.
