Bringing the wood: Johnathan Abram shows off face mask damage following NFL debut

Johnathan Abram is trying to spread the word on a term to describe his facemask following his first NFL game.

The former Mississippi State defensive back said in an Instagram story that his facemask was “WHOPSIDED.” In the Oakland Raiders’ 24-16 win over the Denver Broncos on Monday, Abram had 5 tackles and a pass defended.

Abram was taken No. 27 overall by the Raiders in the 2019 NFL Draft.

The one-time Georgia safety who transferred to a junior college in Mississippi and ended up at State where he arrived as the No. 1 junior college safety recruit in the country. He became a starter for the Bulldogs his junior year with 71 tackles, 5 for loss, 2 sacks and 5 pass breakups. Abram then started 13 games in 2018, and led the Bulldogs with 99 tackles, 9 for loss, 3 sacks, 2 interceptions, 5 pass breakups and a forced fumble.
