Dam. Williams? Mississippi State quarterback’s jersey abbreviation explained

Mississippi State QB Damian Williams took the field for the Bulldogs today with a unique abbreviation on his jersey — Dam. Williams.
The junior didn’t have that on his jersey last year, so what gives?
A redshirt freshman offensive lineman has a very similar name:

At the end of the third quarter of today’s game against South Alabama, Williams was 11-for-15 passing for 111 yards and a touchdown. The Bulldogs lead 20-7. He’s also rushed six times for 56 yards.
