Dan Mullen credits ‘unbelievable’ Mississippi State fans after huge LSU win in Starkville
Mississippi State earned its first win over LSU in Starkville since 1999 Saturday night. The win certainly wasn’t a fluke, either, as the Bulldogs controlled the game throughout and eventually won by a whopping 37-7 margin.
With LSU being ranked as the nation’s No. 12 team entering the contest, it’s hard to imagine the Bulldogs won’t be ranked when the new polls drop Sunday.
Immediately after the game, Mississippi State coach Dan Mullen met with the media to talk about his program’s big win.
Mullen first gave credit to the home fans, who played a big part in setting the atmosphere for the big MSU win:
Dan Mullen: "Obviously, i think the environment had a lot to do with it … Our crowd was unbelievable tonight."

Mullen credited his guys with a great week of prep leading up to the game:

The plan on offense was to take pressure off quarterback Nick Fitzgerald by utilizing the run game early and often. Needless to say, that plan worked well.
Mullen: We wanted to run the football … We wanted to make sure we could run the ball to hopefully neutralize their pass rush.
