David Turner is returning to Starkville.

The former Bulldogs assistant has been hired by Zach Arnett to coach the defensive line.

Turner was on Dan Mullen’s staff at Mississippi State from 2013-15 and also coached at the school from 2007-09.

He was the Assistant Head Coach (for defense) and Defensive Run Game Coordinator at Georgia Tech this past season.

In addition to his previous stops in Starkville, Turner has other SEC ties. He has also coached at Alabama, Florida, Texas A&M, and Kentucky.

Mississippi State is coming off a 9-4 season that included a ReliaQuest Bowl win over Illinois. But the Bulldogs have also been coping with the tragic death last month of former coach Mike Leach.
