Social media reacts to Mississippi State’s first national title in any sport in school history
By SDS Staff
Published:
Mississippi State won its first national championship in school history after the baseball team knocked of Vanderbilt 9-0 in the College World Series Finals.
Kansas State and Virginia Tech are the only other 2 power five schools that haven’t ever won team national titles, as the Bulldogs were crossed off that list Wednesday night. MSU had played in 11 College World Series without a title, too.
It’s been a spectacular season for Mississippi State, and it felt like a team of destiny once it hit the post season. Team leaders Rowdey Jordan and Tanner Allen had spectacular seasons, and pitchers Will Bednar and Landon Sims were straight up dominant in the postseason.
Reactions poured in on social media following Mississippi State’s national title:
I’m genuinely happy for Mississippi State fans. They were good to us when certain other fanbases trashed us.
I also am super happy for Chris Lemonis. Coach Mac’s friend and protege has lead them to the promised land.

Allow me to preempt the top of the 9th. From this Bama grad, I loudly yell with a clang of cowbell a big #HailState to our brethren. Y’all earned it. Very happy for #MississippiState and #CollegeWorldSeries

Mississippi State has been playing sports since 1895.
As we stand, it has never won a national title in any team sport.
That’s about to change.

Happy for the entire Mississippi State athletic department.
A lot of people in SEC country make jokes at the Bullies’ expense, and now they get to be national champions.

No more holding of breath. No more not jinxing it. No more anxiety, anticipation or letdown. It’s done. It happened, and it’s real.
Mississippi State, National Champions.
