Makylan Pounders is committed to Mississippi State once again. A former standout of Byhalia (Mississippi) High School, Pounders heads to MSU after 3 seasons at Memphis.

Pounders redshirted during the 2021 season. He entered the 2022 season as a starter, but was injured in Memphis’ game against Mississippi State and only played sparingly the rest of the season. In 2023, Pounders settled into his role as the team’s starting left tackle.

Experienced linemen are among the most highly sought-after players in the transfer portal. Pounders drew interest from Arkansas, Auburn, Florida, Mizzou, Ole Miss, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas A&M, Vanderbilt and others before announcing his Mississippi State commitment.

Back in April 2020, Pounders committed to play for Mississippi State under Mike Leach. He changed his mind in December. Pounders then briefly committed to Ole Miss before ultimately signing with Memphis.

This time, it looks like Ponders is locked in to join the Bulldogs.
