Mississippi State has a question on the defensive line that could potentially be answered this week, according to Bob Carskadon of HailState.com.
Head coach Dan Mullen apparently said there is “no decision yet” in regards to junior college defensive end Chauncey Rivers’ eligibility.
However, Mississippi State did file an appeal to the NCAA, and is hoping to hear back “for sure” this week, Carskadon said:
Mullen says no decision yet on JUCO DE Chauncey Rivers and eligibility. MSU put in an appeal to NCAA, hoping to hear for sure this week.

State already had one JUCO defensive tackle quit the team this summer when Deion Pope decided he wanted to be closer to home. Pope was rated as the No. 1 JUCO defensive tackle in the country according to 247 Sports’ Player Rankings.
Rivers, who was recruited from East Mississippi Community College, is a highly-touted player, as well.
If Rivers is unable to play, the Bulldogs could be looking at depth issues on the defensive line.
