Where’s the help? Dak Prescott setting NFL records despite Cowboys’ struggles

It’s been a disappointing year for the Dallas Cowboys.

The Cowboys sit at 1-3 on the NFL season in the first year of the Mike McCarthy era, with its lone victory coming in a stirring 40-39 comeback win over the Atlanta Falcons in Week 2.

Despite Dallas’ struggles, it’s hard to fault quarterback Dak Prescott for them, as he has put up some gaudy numbers over the past few weeks.

In fact, since Week 17 of the 2019 season, his combined stat line has set a new mark for success in NFL history.

Against the Falcons, Prescott threw for an eye-popping 450 yards. He upped the ante in Week 3 against the Seahawks, going for a career-high 472 yards. In Week 4’s game against the Browns on Sunday, one where the Cowboys looked as if it would erase yet another big lead, the former Mississippi State star threw for 504 yards to reset his personal-best performance from a season ago.

Reports surfaced during the offseason that Dallas had offered a 5-year deal to Prescott worth $175 million. With his performance on the field thus far in 2020, he may be worth every cent of whatever Jerry Jones decides to pay him—and maybe even more.
