Report: Mississippi State hiring former Ole Miss standout Marcus Johnson to coach OL

New Mississippi State head coach Joe Moorhead is wasting little time in Starkville.
The Bulldogs’ head man has hired several assistant coaches already, and on Friday, college football insider Bruce Feldman reported that Moorhead and MSU are hiring Duke’s Marcus Johnson to coach the offensive line.
Interestingly, Johnson is from Coffeeville, Mississippi, and he played under Duke HC David Cutcliffe at Ole Miss from 2001-2004. Johnson was a second round pick of the Vikings, and he played five seasons in the NFL. He’s coached on Duke’s staff since 2011.
This is a fun hire with respect to the Egg Bowl, and it’s an important hire for Moorhead with Johnson having ties to the state of Mississippi.
