Last year, Mississippi State baseball fan Terry Powell went viral for a hilarious (and fake, for the record) story about how he was able to come to Omaha because his wife’s boyfriend sold his prosthetic leg.
The interview, which was posted by 3NewsNow.com last year, made the rounds in the media because the story was so bizarre, yet Powell kept a straight face:
“The sacrifices that we personally made to be here are incredible,” he said. “My wife’s boyfriend sold his prosthetic leg on Craigslist to afford me the opportunity to be here, but they get alone time and I get a chance to be in Omaha.”
Well, he’s back in Omaha this year, and he has an update on his wife’s boyfriend, who apparently has a new (well, not new, exactly) prosthetic leg these days:
Do you remember that Mississippi State fan whose wife's boyfriend sold his prosthetic leg so he could come up to the #CWS and cheer on #HailState?

“We were very fortunate last year to replace the prosthetic leg,” he said, once again keeping a straight face. “We couldn’t afford him a new leg, so we got him a certified pre-owned prosthetic. We couldn’t get him a right leg — they were unavailable — so we got him a left leg. It’s four inches too short, but he walks in a clockwise circle and it helps him with his job, because he’s a shepherd. He can flock his sheep easier that way. Everybody wins, so we’re just making the most out of this situation and are just glad to be back in Omaha.”
Now, we’ll be rooting for Mississippi State to make it back to Omaha in 2020 so we can continue to learn about Powell’s entertaining saga.
