Mabor Majak became the latest Cleveland State player to transfer to Missouri and follow Dennis Gates to join the Tigers’ program.
Majak, who is listed at 7-foot-2 and 230 pounds, announced the move on social media. Majak is originally from the South Sudan, but played in the Indianapolis area in high school at Hamilton Southeastern.
He is the fourth former Cleveland State player to move to Mizzou after D’Moi Hodge, Tre Gomillion and walk-on Ben Sternberg. Majak at Cleveland State appeared in 34 games the last 2 seasons, and averaged less than a point and a rebound per game as a reserve. He scored in just 7 of the games he played with a career-high of 6 points last season. He played double-digit minutes in just four games.
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported that Majak will begin his time at Mizzou as a walk-on, and if that’s the case, Gates still has 2 open scholarships for the upcoming season.
In high school, Majak was a 3-star recruit, and ranked third among 2020 prospects in the state of Indiana by IndyStar Preps. He led his high school team in points (11.4), rebounds (10) and blocks (2.6). He was nominated to Indiana’s Junior All-Star Team during the 2018-19 season
I want to thank coach Gates and the staff for the opportunity. Can’t wait to get to work. #committed.#miz🐯 pic.twitter.com/QXwmea6LNB
