Mizzou Mania: Harrison Mevis nails 61-yard game-winner to down No. 15 Kansas State

Mizzou pulled off a shocker Saturday afternoon.
In one of the crazier end-of-game sequences you’ll ever see, Missouri pulled off an incredible upset downing No. 15 Kansas State 30-27 off the leg of kicker Harrison Mevis.
But it wasn’t just a chip shot. Mevis nailed a 61-yarder to down the Wildcats, and it looked good right of his foot. Mizzou fans stormed Faurot Field in response and the Tigers now sit at 3-0 on the season.
It’s pure Mizzou Mania:

Mevis has not been exactly automatic this season, either. He was just 1-3 on the season heading into Week 3 but that slate has been wiped clean with this absolute boot to knock off the Wildcats. The game-winner was – get ready – the longest field goal by an active SEC team in history.
And this was no fluke from the Tigers. They played very well against No. 15 Saturday, especially Luther Burden III on offense. Brady Cook had a good control of the offense and though the Tigers’ defense was far from perfect, it was enough to hold the Wildcats at bay.
The Tigers are 3-0 heading into next week against Memphis.
The 61-yard field goal by @MizzouFootball to defeat Kansas State is the longest field goal in @SEC history. Previous long was 60, nearly 40 years ago in 1984.
